"Need-love cries to God from our poverty; Gift-love longs to serve, or even suffer for, God; Appreciative-love says: 'We give thanks to thee for thy great glory.' Need-love says of a woman 'I cannot live without her'; Gift -love logs to give her happiness, comfort, protection--if possible, wealth; Appreciative-love gazes and holds its breath and is silent, rejoices that such a wonder should exist even if not for him, will not be wholly dejected by losing he, would rather have it so than to never have seen her at all." C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves
I would recommend this book to anyone, even though I'm only on page 34 and have to reread every other line to make sure I understand. It is funny, insightful and brutally honest. All very good things to have in a book. I stole this copy from my family library and although I don't think that any one has missed it yet I have to confess and apologize for the theft. Sorry Mom!
